On Wednesday September 11, 2024 at 7:30am, Tazewell Police Officer Jeremiah Widner responded to a stolen vehicle call on Lester Green Lane.

Upon arrival Officer Widner took a report on a 2007 maroon Honda Odyssey that had been parked in the driveway last seen around midnight.  When the individual making the report got home, the vehicle was gone.  It was stated that the keys had been left in the vehicle and a description was made to the officer.

Found on the back porch of the home that morning was a backpack full of clothing and a guitar inside a case which had the initals J.D.H., later determined to belong to the suspect.

Later that day around 12:37pm the Odyssey was found with extensive damage after being driven off the roadway and crashing into a tree on Blue Top Road.  Officer Widner responded and confirmed it was the same vehicle.

Through the investigation by Lt. Josh Fields, a cellphone was found inside the stolen van in the driver’s side floorboard that belonged to 30-year-old Jesse D. Honeycutt.  Also found was a hat that Honeycutt was seen wearing in pictures.

Honeycutt was found, arrested, and lodged in the Claiborne County Jail charged with theft of property $1,000 - $10,000, leaving the scene of an accident (property damage), and driving on a revoked drivers license.

The crash was investigated by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
