From The Tazewell Police Department -
On Wednesday, May 13,2020 Tazewell Police Department took a report from Pickers Paradise on North Broad Street in Tazewell in reference to the theft of several items. The description of the suspect vehicle was given to officers.
Officer Jeff Green was on patrol at 1:35am that morning and conducted a traffic stop at Food City just beside the business that had been targeted. Detective Josh Fields was called out to the stop and found through investigation a car loaded with suspected stolen property.
The operator and passenger 35 year old Leya Stapleton of Morristown and 28 year old Nora Langley of Barbourville, KY. were arrested. After Detective Fields and Chief Myers conducted a more thorough search of the vehicle a large amount of tools were discovered. Through investigation it was found the tools were stolen from a mechanics shop on Hwy. 119 in Pineville, KY.
Those tools were on loan from Autozone in Middlesboro, KY. The Bell County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and the items were returned. As the investigation continued several of the items taken from Pickers Paradise were discovered at a thrift store in Morristown, Tn.. Those items were returned to the owners.
