From WRIL -
On Tuesday February 15 2022, after a lengthy investigation, Middlesboro Police Narcotics Investigator Ryan Collins and officers executed a search warrant at a Bellwood Road residence in reference to drug trafficking.
Once on scene, prior to announcing their presence and making entry to the home, contact was made with the individual who was the focus of the investigation, 43-year-old Matthew Osborne of Middlesboro. Osborne had been sitting on the front porch of the residence.
Sgt. Chris Barnes asked Osborne if there was anything illegal inside the home and he told the officer no. A short time after officers made their way inside and began searching, Osborne then told Sgt. Barnes that he would show them "where everything is at".
Those searching were led to a bathroom and were instructed by Osborne to remove a medicine cabinet off the wall. Once the cabinet was taken down, officers recovered a large plastic container that held approximately (12) twelve individual bags and (1) one pill bottle containing a crystal like substance believe to be Methamphetamine, (9) individual bags of a green leafy substance believed to be Marijuana, distribution bags, and $2812.00 in cash.
Found in the back main room of the residence was an RF GS detector, a digital scale, a ledger containing names of individuals who owned money, a Pro May 22 rifle with a loaded magazine, and a Stevens sawed off 12-guage shotgun.
Matthew Osborne was arrested and later admitted to selling the illegal items. He was lodged in the Bell County Detention Center charged with trafficking in controlled substance - 1st degree, 1st offense (greater than 2 grams Methamphetamine), trafficking in Marijuana (8oz. to 5lbs) - 1st offense, (2) two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and he was served a felony probation violation.
He is being held on a $15,000 Cash bond.
