Harlan County authorities are looking for an escaped inmate from the Harlan County Detention Center's custody.
Harlan County Jailer BJ Burkhart states that 41-year-old Melvin Harris is described as 6' 1", 175lbs, with short dark-brown hair.
Harris walked off work detail this morning at the Shriners Park while cutting their grounds. The time was between 9:55 and 10:00 am when he walked off.
He has been classified as a community-level inmate at the time of the escape. While arrested multiple times over several years, he does not have any violent charges lodged against him and is not deemed dangerous.
