From The Pineville Kentucky Police Department -
Pineville Police Department is proud to announce that we now have our first ever K-9 unit. Officer Brandon Hollingsworth and K-9 "Link", a Dutch Shepherd, will now be serving community together.
Link came to the department in January from Morristown, Tennessee going through all the required training and certification as of April 29, 2021. Officer Hollingsworth states that Link will be used for narcotics detection and tracking. The two will also be assisting other agencies when assistance is needed for vehicle searches and search warrants.
Officer Hollingsworth says: "we are really excited, especially with backing of Mayor Madon and the city council, for the program. Link will be a big asset to our department and the community."
The funds necessary to purchase Link came from seizure monies acquired in drug busts made by the department.
The new pickup truck, outfitted with a well-ventilated and cooled area for Link, was purchased by the Pineville Police Department through alcohol sales tax generated at restaurants and stores in the city.
