From Lee County Commonwealth Attorney H Fuller Critilin -

Brandon McCarty - DRJ

On Thursday, August 25, 2022, Lee County Virginia Circuit Court sentenced 49-year-old Brandon Shay McCarty of Pineville to serve a total of fifteen years in prison for trafficking Methamphetamine.

After sentencing, Critilin said McCarty was "convicted of three counts of distributing Methamphetamine, including one count of distributing greater than (10) ten grams of Methamphetamine. The charges were the result of an investigation by the Southwest Virginia Drug Task Force, the Lee County Sheriff's Department, and the ATF. I appreciate all law enforcement officers with these agencies for their hard work and their cooperation with my office throughout what was a long and complex prosecution.

The lengthy sentence imposed reflects the major harm that distributing Methamphetamine causes in our community. I applaud the efforts of everyone involved in bringing the defendant to justice today and holding him accountable for his actions."

McCarty also had charges in Kentucky taken out by Middlesboro Officer Ryan Collins for trafficking Methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. He had been on parole at the time of the charges.

Brandon McCarty is currently lodged in the Duffield Virginia Regional Jail.
