Motorcyclist loses his life trying to avoid a stopped car

The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports there was a fatal motorcycle crash in Union County on Saturday, November 9th. The incident happened a short time before 5:00pm on Maynardville Highway at the intersection of Old State Highway 33.

The THP preliminary investigation determined that a car was stopped on the northbound lane of Maynardville Highway waiting to make a left turn on to Highway 33. That's when a 2020 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, driven by 64-year-old Steven Miracle of Maynardville, Tn., attempted to swerve to the left side of the stopped vehicle.

The motorcycle then struck the rear end of the car sliding on it's side into a guardrail on the righthand side of the road. Miracle was killed in the incident. There were no injuries to the two occupants of the car.

No charges are pending, according to THP.
