On Wednesday morning June 15, 2022, at approximately 4:28am Middlesboro officers responded to a call of a stabbing at a Hinks Heights residence. Once on scene the officer made contact with a male individual with a stab wound to his abdomen. Middlesboro EMS arrived and transported the man to Middlesboro ARH for treatment.
During the investigation lead by Lt. Clay Hurd, it was determined that the offender was identified as 29-year-old Edward Christopher Horne of Middlesboro who was located near Happy Hollow Apartments.
While at the residence officers obtained a confession from Horne admitting to the stabbing. he was then placed under arrest and charged with Burglary - 1st degree and transported to the Bell County Detention Center.
KRS 511.020 defines Burglary in the first degree as:
(1) A person is guilty of burglary in the first degree when, with the intent to commit a crime, he knowingly enters or remains unlawfully in a building, and when in effecting entry or while in the building or in the immediate flight therefrom, he or another participant in the crime:
(a) Is armed with explosives or a deadly weapon; or
(b) Causes physical injury to any person who is not a participant in the crime; or
(c) Uses or threatens the use of a dangerous instrument against any person who is not a participant in the crime.
(2) Burglary in the first degree is a Class B felony.
Christopher Horne has no bond set as of this publication but is expected to be arraigned in District Court shortly.
