On Saturday, November 9, 2024, Middlesboro Officer Caleb Ayers was dispatched to an Avondale residence in regard to a domestic dispute.
Once on scene the officer made contact with the female victim who stated she had been struck in the forehead by her live-in boyfriend whom she shared a child with.
The boyfriend, identified as 42-year-old Joseph Stowell of Middlesboro, had locked himself inside the home along with his and the victim’s child. The officer had to make forced entry into the residence.
Stowell was then taken into custody and lodged in the Bell County Detention Center charged with fleeing or evading police – 1st degree, assault – 4th degree dating violence, endangering the welfare of a minor, resisting arrest, and wanton endangerment – 2nd degree.
He is being held on a $25,000 cash bond.
