Middlesboro Independent School District (MISD) is pleased to announce the hiring of Andy Kim as a consultant, with his contract beginning on November 11, 2024.
Mr. Kim will play a vital role in guiding the district through its transition toward appointing a new superintendent in 2025. With years of experience supporting MISD through his work with the Perseid Foundation, Mr. Kim brings a deep understanding of the district’s unique needs and goals.

"Mr. Kim has already been working closely with us through the Perseid Foundation, and he understands the needs of our students, teachers, and broader school community. His commitment to educational excellence will be a great asset as we prepare for this important transition."
As part of his consulting role, Mr. Kim will focus on several key areas to support MISD’s strategic goals, including:
Enhancing instructional practices to improve student learning outcomes
Providing targeted professional development for teachers and administrators
Building on existing initiatives to support a strong district culture and positive school climate
Reviewing and strengthening leadership practices to ensure a smooth transition
Collaborating with MISD leaders to assess and refine curriculum alignment across all grade levels
Mr. Kim expressed his enthusiasm for this new role, emphasizing his dedication to supporting MISD’s students and staff. "As an educator, you look for opportunities to help students succeed, and I am grateful for this chance to support the teachers and students at MISD," said Kim. "I appreciate the leadership of the Board members in prioritizing improvement, and I look forward to working with Mr. Allen to understand the district's achievements and build upon them."
