Laurel, London, Pulaski and FBI law enforcement team up to take down Meth trafficker in November

Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: On Friday, November 18, 2022, the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, London Police Department, Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, and FBI conducted a joint operation into an organization trafficking illegal narcotics in Laurel and Pulaski County.


During the investigation, surveillance units followed a suspect vehicle to Louisville. While conducting surveillance, law enforcement lost sight of the vehicle, due to heavy traffic in the Louisville area. Surveilling units contacted London Police and Laurel SO interdiction to observe for a black Nissan Altima.


The interdiction squad was able to locate the Altima, on I75 south, and conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, law enforcement confirmed the vehicle was operated by 33-year-old Derrick S. Lee of Corbin, KY. The traffic stop resulted in the seizure of 2 lbs. of Crystal Methamphetamine.


Lee was arrested and charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance - 1st degree and several traffic charges. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
