Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith is reporting the following Enforcement Actions:
On December 5, 2024, Dylan Lewis responded to a complaint of a female refusing to leave at a residence on Lumpkins Road in Barbourville. When Deputy Lewis arrived, he observed the female sitting in the yard with an empty alcohol container. After conducting an investigation, Deputy Lewis arrested Jewel H Edison age 42 of Barbourville, KY charging her with Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place. She was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
On December 5, 2024, Deputy Dylan Lewis arrested Benjamin J Hammons age 40 of Barbourville, KY on two Bell County Bench Warrants for failure to appear on License to be in Possession, No Insurance, Improper Display of Registration Plates and Failure to Produce Insurance Card charges. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
On December 6, 2024, Deputies were dispatched to a domestic violence complaint of a man being assaulted with a pic-axe at a residence on KY 1527 IN Gray. When deputies arrived, they observed a man standing in the front yard and later they also observed the back door had been kicked in. After making contact with a female inside the residence and conducting an investigation, the deputies arrested Jason P Barnett age 51 of Dayton, OH charging him with Assault-2nd Degree, Rape-3rd Degree, Criminal Mischeif-2nd Degree, and Criminal Trespassing-3rd Degree. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
On December 9, 2024, Deputies responded to a trespassing complaint at a residence on Hughes Branch Road in Girdler. When the deputies arrived, they observed a male subject jump out of a window and flee on foot. After a foot pursuit, the man was apprehended. Jason Wayne Gray age 35 of Barbourville, KY was arrested and charged with Criminal Trespassing-3rd Degree and Fleeing or Evading Police-2nd Degree. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
On December 11, 2024, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office was notified about someone putting wanted posters inside mailboxes in the Woodbine area. The wanted poster contained a tip hotline telephone number. Deputies called the number and got the voicemail of Daryl Hicks. The deputies located the residence of Daryl Hicks in Corbin. After interviewing Daryl Hicks age 54 of Corbin, KY he was arrested and charged with Impersonating a Peace Officer. Daryl Hicks was also wanted on a Knox County Bench Warrant for failure to pay the fine on an Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence charge. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
On December 12, 2024, LT Sam Mullins arrested Jonathan Asher age 34 of Flat Lick, KY on a Knox County Arrest Warrant for Fleeing or Evading Police-2nd Degree. Jonathon Asher was also wanted on four Bell County Bench Warrants for failure to pay the fine on three counts of Failure to Produce an Insurance Card, No Registration Plates, No Registration Receipt, Improper Display of Registration Plates, Rear License not Illuminated, No Operators License, Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, two counts of Possession of Controlled Substance-1st Degree charges. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
On December 13, 2024, Deputies were dispatched to a domestic violence complaint at a residence on A J Gray Cemetery Road in Flat Lick. After conducting an investigation, the deputies arrested Harrison Mills JR age 55 of Flat Lick, KY charging him with Assault-4th Degree. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
On December 14, 2024, at approximately 10:35 pm Deputies responded to a trespassing complaint at a residence on KY 11 in Cannon. The caller advised there was a man she did bot know on her front porch. When the deputies arrived the found the man covered up with rugs on the porch. The man advised he did not know exactly where he was and was just going to sleep there until the next morning. Fairlon Smith age 69 of Gray, KY was arrested and charged with Criminal Trespassing-3rd Degree. Fairlon Smith was also wanted on a Knox County Bench Warrant for failure to pay the fine on a Criminal Trespassing-3rd Degree charge. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
On December 15, 2024, Deputy Dylan Lewis arrested Harold D Miller age 36 of Corbin, KY on a Knox County Bench Warrant for failure to pay the fine on a License to be in Possession charge and a Knox County Arrest Warrant for Criminal Mischeif-2nd Degree. Harold Miller was also wanted on a Laurel County Arrest Warrant for Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition-over $1,000 and Criminal Trespassing-3rd Degree. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
