From the Barbourville Police Department -
On Tuesday, April 23,2019 at approximately 7:04 PM, Patrolman Elijah Broughton of the Barbourville Police Department was off duty in his personal vehicle and observed Kristopher Denham who was reported as an escaped inmate walking down North Main St. in Barbourville toward the Smokey area.
Patrolman Broughton contacted the units working at the time. He then turned around and pulled up to the subject where he got out and ask him what his name was and he advised Roger. Broughton and Lawson who was there both knew him to be Kristopher Denham who had escaped. Upon search of the male subject officers located 2 needles in his front left pocket.
After getting the subject to the Jail Officers noticed that he had new clothes on and he advised them that he had stolen them from Wal-Mart. The following subject was arrested and charged.
Kristopher Denham, 28, of Grays, was arrested and charged with Escape 2nd degree, Giving Officer False Identifying Information, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Theft by unlawful Taking Under $500.
The above subject was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center. Patrolman Clay Helton also assisted at the scene.
