Knox Co Sheriff Mike Smith reports 2 arrests and recovery of stolen fence from the Campbell Cemetery

On Saturday, August 19, 2023, Knox County Deputies responded to a theft complaint at the Campbell Cemetery on Campbell Cemetery Road in Woodbine. One hundred and fifty (150) feet of black painted chain-link fence including top rails, seven (7) posts, two (2) 10 feet gates and all the hardware were taken during the theft.


On Tuesday, August 22, 2023, through investigation, Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith learned that the stolen fence and hardware were at the residence of Jason Taylor on Perkins Street in the Whitley County area of Woodbine.

Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith and deputies traveled to the residence. When they arrived a man ran into a detached garage and locked the door from the inside.


While deputies were preparing information to obtain a search warrant, Jason Taylor crawled out of the garage through a hole in the side and fled into the residence where he barricaded himself along with a female already inside.


Whitley County Deputies responded to the residence and later obtained a Whitley County Search Warrant. After executing the search warrant, the stolen fence and all the hardware were located on a utility trailer behind the residence.


After several hours, Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith, Whitley County Sheriff Bill Elliotte and deputies entered the residence.


Angela Taylor age 34 of Woodbine, KY was immediately arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property, Menacing and Hindering Prosecution or Apprehnesion-2nd Degree.


Approximately one hour later Jason W Taylor age 39 of Woodbine, KY was located hidden inside a wall inside the residence. He was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property, Menacing and Fleeing or Evading Police-2nd Degree.


Jason and Angela Taylor were lodged in the Knox County Detention Center
