Kentucky State Police Investigating a Fatality in Whitley County

On Thursday, April 27, at approximately 11:30 AM, the Kentucky State Police, London Post responded to a two-vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of Cumberland Falls Highway and Angel Road in Whitley County.

The initial investigation indicates that a 2019 Chevrolet Colorado operated by 86-year-old Ralph Lyttle of Williamsburg, KY, was turning left off of Angel Road when his vehicle entered the path of a 1998 Freightliner Empty Log Truck that was traveling south, driven by 59-year-old Randall L. Bowlin of Williamsburg, Ky.

As a result of the collision, Mr. Lyttle suffered life-threatening injuries and he was pronounced deceased by the Whitley County Coroner’s office.

KSP Post 11 Trooper Matthew Brumley is continuing the investigation. He was assisted at the scene by Post 11 Personnel, the Whitley County Sherriff’s Office, Whitley County EMS, Whitley County Fire Department, and the Whitley County Coroner’s Office.
