Identity of 119 crash victim released

At 10:36pm this morning there was a two vehicle accident on Highway 119 at approximately the 9 mile marker from Highway 25E in Calvin near Tanyard Hill.


Kentucky State Police say the initial investigation indicates that lone occupant 75 year old Cillis G. Young of Loyall was driving a 2006 silver Saturn southbound on U.S.119.


Mr. Young crossed the centerline into the path of a 2018 Freightliner Waste Connection garbage truck driven by 32 year old Benjamin Fair of Dayhoit. The garbage truck was struck head on causing Mr. Young's vehicle to leave the roadway coming to rest against an embankment. Young was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision and was ejected from the vehicle. Bell County Deputy Coroner Jason Steele declared Young deceased at the scene.


Benjamin Fair did not sustain any injuries from the collision.


Drugs and alcohol are not suspected in the collision.


The collision is under investigation by KSP Detective Rodney Sturgill. Also responding was the Bell County EMS, Bell County Rescue Squad, Bell County Sheriff's Department, Bell County Volunteer Fire Department, KSP Troopers, and KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement.
