On Saturday, January 28, 2023 the Harlan County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant on a residence in the Closplint community across from a county park. During the execution of the search warrant a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine, various baggies believed to be used for the purpose of drug trafficking, and a scale with residue was located in the bedroom of the property owner. A female subject present in the home also had in her possession a baggy containing a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine as well as various baggies and a scale with residue.
Margaret Early was arrested and charged with Trafficking a Controlled Substance 1st-degree 2nd offense (Methamphetamine), drug paraphernalia Deliver/Manufacture and Possession of Marijuana.
Tracy Thomas was arrested and charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st degree (methamphetamine) and Drug Paraphernalia Deliver/Manufacture. Thomas was also arrested on a child support warrant.
Ashley Hensley also known as Nikki Jordan was arrested on a Harlan Circuit Court Indictment for Possession of Methamphetamine and other charges. Assisting Deputy Bryan Napier on the search warrant were Chief Deputy Jason Adams, Lieutenant John Teagle, Deputies Austin Reynolds, Jeremy Jones, Chris Hickey, and Constable Scotty Moore.

On Saturday, January 28th, Constable Tony Noe and Deputy Cody Bargo were attempting to serve Paul Wayne Rouse on a Probation Violation warrant for a felony offense when Rouse fled into the bathroom of a residence and attempted to barricade the door. Rouse was eventually arrested and transported to the Harlan County Detention Center. Once inside HCDC, Rouse became combative, and while being restrained Rouse spit on a Deputy Jailer. Rouse was additionally charged with Assault 3rd degree peace officer communicable bodily fluid.
On Friday, January 27th Deputy Bryan Napier arrested a female subject in Smith on a child support warrant.
On Wednesday, January 25th Lieutenant John Teagle arrested a male subject in Grays Knob on 4 Harlan Circuit Court FTA warrants. Deputies Caleb Carmical and Bryan Napier arrested a male and female subject in Rio Vista on complaint warrants.
On Tuesday, January 24th Deputy Cody Bargo arrested a male subject in Evarts for Assault 3rd degree and Wanton Endangerment. Deputy Austin Reynolds arrested a male subject in Harlan on 2 bench warrants. Deputy Cody Bargo arrested a male subject in Wallins on a Harlan Circuit Court Indictment.
On Monday, January 23rd Deputy Justin Farley arrested a male subject on a Harlan Circuit Court Indictment. Deputy Bryan Napier arrested a male subject in Closplint on a Harlan Circuit Court bench warrant and 2 Harlan District Court bench warrants.
