From WRIL/Pineville Independent Schools
The search for the next head football coach of Pineville’s Mountain Lions is over, as Superintendent Russell Thompson released today that Mr. Randy Frazier would be leading the Mountain Lions into the next season.
Frazier, who is the current Assistant Principal at Pineville Independent, has a long career in football and comes to Pineville with an impressive resume.
He played football at Whitesburg High School, went on to play college football at Morehead State University, and signed as a free agent into the NFL. He started his coaching career as a graduate assistant for the Morehead Eagles until he made his way into coaching high school football at Cumberland High School in Harlan County, Kentucky.
Some of Frazier’s most memorable coaching positions include his first head coach position at Cumberland High School and his last head coach position at Middlesboro High School where they won district and Frazier was honored as district coach of the year. Before coming to Pineville, Frazier was the Defensive Coordinator at Whitley County High School for two winning seasons.
Frazier is excited about taking the reins for the Mountain Lions and looks forward to building on the established program. He is already part of the community and school, so the transition is anticipated to be smooth. Frazier currently resides in Pineville with his wife Selena and their two children. A Tuesday press conference has been scheduled at 2:45pm to announce Frazier as Bart Elam’s successor.
