On Friday, March 18, 2022, while on routine patrol on Highway 25E Pineville Officer Patrick Brooks saw a 2010 Ford F150 traveling at an extremely slow speed, swerving in and out of the median then back and forth on the roadway. Officer Brooks then initiated a traffic stop at McDonald's in Pineville.
Upon making contact with the driver, 34-year-old Rodney Allen Wilder of Miracle, the officer immediately smelled a strong odor of alcohol and he was exhibiting signs of being intoxicated. He was asked to exit the vehicle for standard field sobriety tests which he failed.
Wilder was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. Inside the truck was found two open cans of beer according to the citation.
In the back seat of his vehicle was a 2-year-old child while he had been driving intoxicated.
After further processing Rodney Wilder was lodged in the Bell County Jail charged with reckless driving, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol (aggravated circumstances), possession of open alcohol beverage container in a motor vehicle, and wanton endangerment - 1st degree.
