This release has been updated by the Williamsburg Police Department: 34-year-old Cara Lawson of Williamsburg, has been sentenced to prison for her involvement in a drug trafficking investigation in January and March of 2022.
Lawson was convicted in Whitley Circuit Court on January 12, 2023, on two counts of trafficking in Methamphetamine, one count of trafficking fentanyl, and one count of promoting contraband. She was one of six defendants in two separate drug trafficking investigations where she possessed thirty grams of methamphetamine in one case and over three-hundred grams of methamphetamine and a small quantity of fentanyl in another case. Each count carried (5) years and was to be served concurrently.
The incidents were investigated by WPD and DEA-London. The cases were successfully prosecuted by the Office of the Whitley County Commonwealth’s Attorney. The other defendants involved in the cases have not been resolved and are awaiting trial.
