From the Claiborne County Sheriff's Department -
On Monday, December 20, 2021, during a routine traffic stop in Clairfield, Deputy Jason Pabon with the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office, observed a vehicle failing to maintain lane.
After being stopped, the driver of the vehicle, 43-year-old Donnie Ray Malicoat of Clairfield, admitted to recently using Methamphetamine and Suboxone.
Malicoat was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which he failed. Deputy Pabon then asked Malicoat for his consent to search which revealed 1.19 grams of Methamphetamine, a pipe and brass knuckles.
Donnie Ray Malicoat was then arrested and charged with Failure to Maintain Lane, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving Under the Influence, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and Violation of Implied Consent Law.
He was lodged in the Claiborne County Jail.
