During a safety checkpoint along Highway 221 at the Jenson Bridge with KSP and the Bell County Sheriff's Department on Saturday June 1, 2019 Bell County Adam Southern arrested two women for drug offenses.
KSP Trooper Josh Messer was investigating the driver of a 2007 black Cadillac CTS for failing to provide proof of insurance. He was identified as 28 year old Tony Lord of Pineville who was arrested after it was discovered he had an outstanding bench warrant for failure to appear in court.
Deputy Southern received consent to search the vehicle after front seat passenger 36 year old Ericka L. Jackson of Pineville was seen trying to conceal an unknown object in her pants.
As she exited the vehicle, a small bag of a crystal-like substance believed to be Methamphetamine was lying in plain view on the seat where she had been sitting.
A back seat passenger, 29 year old Jowana L. Sturgill of Kettle Island, Ky., was moving around refusing to obey Deputy Southern’s command to keep her hands out of her purse.
After the search, Ms. Sturgill was found to be in possession of a small bag of a crystal-like substance believed to be Methamphetamine, several empty syringes, a glass pipe with residue, a set of digital scales with a crystal-like residue, and several empty bags also with a crystal-like residue. All the items were found in the purse Ms. Sturgill had in her possession.
Both women were arrested and lodged in the Bell County Detention Center.
Erika Jackson was charged with possession of controlled substance 1st degree, 1st offense – Methamphetamine.
Jowana Sturgill was charged with trafficking in controlled substance 1st degree, 1st offense less than 2 grams – Methamphetamine and buying/possessing drug paraphernalia.
