Cawood Kentucky Man Arrested on Arson Charges After Setting Multiple Fires

At approximately 3:00 am Sunday, January 19, 2025 KSP Post 10 was contacted by the Sunshine Fire Department regarding three structure fires in the Cranks community of Harlan County. 24-year-old Gordon Fultz of Cawood, Ky. was identified as the suspect, reportedly driving a green Ford F-150.


While en route, Trooper Meadows received information that Fultz was on Garrett Hollow Road attempting to ignite another fire. Trooper Meadows located the vehicle and observed Fultz inside an abandoned trailer trying to start a fire. Fultz fled from the trooper in his truck before he could be confronted.


Later Sunday morning, Trooper Cornett located Fultz's vehicle parked on KY 3001 with Fultz unconscious in the driver's seat. After being removed, handcuffed, and secured in Trooper Meadows' vehicle, Fultz began kicking the windows and used the rear radar antenna to shatter the rear window.


Gordon Fultz was transported to and booked in the the Harlan County Detention Center charged with:


* Fleeing and Evading Police (1st Degree)

* Resisting Arrest

* Criminal Mischief (1st Degree)

* Arson (3rd Degree)

* Assault (3rd Degree - Police Officer)

* Driving on a DUI Suspended License

* Failure to Produce Insurance Card

* Reckless Driving


The investigation is continuing by Kentucky State Police
