From the Bell County Sheriff's Department -
On Thursday, April 7, 2022 Bell County deputies received a call of an individual that had dropped suspected drugs at a local Dollar General Store in Fourmile. Responding to the store on Highway 25E was Sgt. Frank Foster, Chief Deputy Jared Smith, and Deputy Jody Risner.
Once on scene the deputies made contact with a woman who stated her child picked up a plastic baggy with what appeared to be drugs inside. Sgt. Foster then made contact with the store manager who showed the deputy the bag which was a crystal-like substance believed to be Methamphetamine. The manager also stated that there was a clear video of a woman, identified as 26-year-old Brittany Cox of Bryants Store Ky., walking into the store and dropping the baggy, then the child picking it up a few minutes later.
Cox was located still in the store and brought outside exhibiting signs of being manifestly under the influence of some type of drug. Cox told the deputies that her identification was in a purse in her vehicle. The car was located as well as her purse which was found to have another bag of what is believed to be Methamphetamine, a glass pipe, Clonazepam tablets, and a bag of what is believed to be Marijuana.
Brittany Cox was arrested and lodged in the Bell County Detention Center charged with possession of Marijuana, possession of controlled substance – 1st degree, 1st offense (Methamphetamine), possession of controlled substance – 3rd degree (drug unspecified), wanton endangerment – 1st degree, buying/possessing drug paraphernalia, and public intoxication (excluding alcohol).
