Claiborne County Sheriff Bob Brooks tells WRIL that a warrant for attempted 1st - degree murder has been issued for a suspect in a recent Harrogate stabbing and shooting.
The August 28th incident left a woman fighting for her life in UT Hospital.
Sheriff Brooks reports that deputies from his department responded to an assault involving a stabbing and shooting of a female victim at a residence in the Shawanee community on Leeds Street just after 5:15pm Wednesday night.
Dozens of units from the Claiborne Sheriff's Department, with the assistance of Middlesboro Police, and THP, responded to the scene.
Close to two hours after the incident, a male suspect identified as 43-year-old David "Chicago" Janis, was taken into custody, found to be wanted by the Kentucky Probation and Parole Office for a violation of absconding supervision. He has been booked into the Claiborne County Jail.
A second female suspect fled the scene. Said to be the wife of David Janis, Johnna Lynn Miracle of Cumberland Gap, Tennessee, (also known as Jlynn Janis), was determined to be responsible for the attack on the victim. Her whereabouts are still unknown.
According to the sheriff's department, she is possibly armed with a handgun and should be considered armed and dangerous. If you have information or know her location DO NOT APPROACH and please contact Claiborne County E911 dispatch at 423-626-1911 or call 911.
A $2,500 cash reward is being offered for information leading to her capture.
