From The Knox County Ky Sheriff's Department -
On January 25, 2025, at approximately 4:30 pm Knox County Deputies received a report of a man being shot on Nan Duff Road in Hinkle. While responding the deputies received information that the shooter had left in a Black pick-up truck.
After turning on Callebs Creek Road, the deputies observed a pick-up matching the description. After conducting a traffic stop the deputies learned that the driver, 45-year-old Wesley Mills of Flat Lick, KY., had been firing a weapon near the residence where the man had been shot.
During their investigation, deputies determined that Wesley Mills had been target-shooting a 22-caliber rifle into a garbage pile near the victim’s residence. One of the projectiles ricocheted and went through the door of the house trailer and struck the victim in the left knee. There were also two more people present inside the residence at this time.
Mills was arrested and charged with Assault-4th Degree and three (3) counts of Felony Wanton Endangerment-1st Degree. Wesley Mills was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
Knox EMS also responded to the scene.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation, and other charges could be pending. Once the investigation is concluded, the case will be presented to a Knox County Grand Jury.
